One day,
one page.
One year,
one volume.
- Opening: a point of light sets off at midnight and travels clockwise through the day, leaving fine lines where there was talking and small stars at a few moments, drawing today’s dial.
- As you scroll, the dial’s ticks drift apart one by one and become stars.
- The dial shrinks into a day seal at the center of a book cover, with a year of seals around it like a sky full of stars.
- The book opens and turns through the last five days, stopping at today.
A day
A day07:05Morning
One tap.
That’s it.
The recording screen is also a watch face. Glance at the time, and see how much of today is already recorded.
A day07:42Heading out
Even an offhand
remark gets kept.
“Got an umbrella? Rain this afternoon.” A line from the doorway, still there tonight.

Interrupted?
It carries on.
When a call interrupts, recording resumes after you hang up. If it can’t, your watch taps you. One tap resumes.

Quiet moments

Stretches where no one speaks fold away. The page keeps only what was said.

One day, one page.
One year,
one volume.
At day’s end the dial stops and shrinks into a day seal, stamped in the corner of the page. The more you talked, the thicker the ring; the dot marks when your day ended. A year of seals becomes the cover of that volume.

Transcribed on your iPhone
Your iPhone turns speech into text. Your audio is never uploaded to our servers.
Cloud AI gets text only, with names replaced
When you use cloud AI, names, phone numbers and similar details are replaced with placeholders on your iPhone first. Our servers don’t keep it, and the AI provider keeps it for up to 30 days.
The people around you have a say
They can see you’re recording, ask you to pause, or ask you to delete what was just said.
Whether recording is legal depends on where you are. Learn your local law and tell the people around you. The app gives prompts for your region, but this isn’t legal advice.
FAQ
You might be wondering
Can Apple Watch record all day?
Yes, with Hinokoe: tap once on your Apple Watch and it keeps recording in the background until you stop it or the battery runs low. Calls, Siri and timers briefly stop recording on any Apple Watch. When Hinokoe is on screen it picks back up on its own, and when it can't, your watch taps you so you can resume with one tap. We'll publish measured battery life after the beta.
Is my recording uploaded to the cloud?
No, your audio is never uploaded to our servers. Recording happens on Apple Watch and transcription happens on your iPhone. Cloud AI stays off until you turn it on, and even then only text is sent, with names, phone numbers and similar details replaced with placeholders on your iPhone first. Our servers pass it along without keeping it; the AI provider doesn't train on it and keeps it for up to 30 days. If you choose to back up audio, it's encrypted and stored in your own iCloud.
Which Apple Watch models does Hinokoe support?
Every Apple Watch that can run watchOS 26: Series 6 or later, SE (2nd generation) or later, and every Ultra. You also need an iPhone running iOS 26 or later.
Can it transcribe Chinese, English and Japanese mixed together?
Yes. Hinokoe transcribes Mandarin, Cantonese, English and Japanese on your iPhone, even when they're mixed in one sentence. The app is available in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean, and we'll share details on more languages at launch.
How is Hinokoe different from Apple's Live Rewind and Siri Recap?
Apple's features don't keep recordings or transcripts, while Hinokoe keeps your audio and a full, word-for-word transcript on your own devices. According to Apple, Live Rewind shows the text of the last 15 seconds when you double-press the Digital Crown, and Siri Recap creates high-level summaries that delete themselves after 7 days unless you save them. Neither attributes quotes to speakers, both require Apple Watch Series 12 or Ultra 4, and Apple says they're coming in beta later in 2026, starting with English. Hinokoe labels who said what, works in Mandarin, Cantonese, English and Japanese, and runs on every Apple Watch that can run watchOS 26.

Is Hinokoe free?
There will be a free version of Hinokoe. Plans and pricing will be announced when it launches on the App Store.
Will people around me know I'm recording?
Not unless you tell them, so please do: Hinokoe is made to be used openly. You can show a notice card on your watch that explains, in their language, that you're keeping notes for yourself and that they can ask you to pause at any time. Recording laws differ from place to place, and some places require everyone's consent.
